What is the most effective way to quit drugs and alcohol? This is a very serious question that is asked by many thousands of individuals that are- interested in ending their dependency on alcohol and drugs. The thing is many of these people try to stop drug abuse on their own. I can tell you right off the bat here that this does not work trust me I have tried every way I could think of to quit using drugs by myself. Guess what I failed time after time. Sure I was able to stay clean and sober at times for 2 or 3 days and then I was back at it. Fortunately, there are many effective measures available today. Let’s take a quick look at some of them.

Quitting Drugs in Drug Rehab

Enroll in a Drug Rehabilitation Center

Enrolling in a drug rehabilitation center is probably the most popular method of getting one’s addiction under control. There are many rehabilitation centers throughout the world. Staff members at rehabs understand what addicts are going through. They are sympathetic and well trained.

Rehab centers are well known for helping people kick their habits. There are also drug rehabs the specialize in medical detox so if you are addicted to a drug that has serious withdrawal symptoms as one of the side effects you may want to keep this in mind.

Read Inspirational Books

Many people throughout the history have been able to quit using drugs and win their war over alcohol and drug addiction. Some have written books about their personal struggles. One with a current addiction can simply sit down and read several of these thought filled books. Reading these inspiring books can give anyone the motivation to overcome their struggle with drug addiction. Just let me add here that it has been my experience to personally see that anyone who truly has the desire to quit using drugs can do so.

Get Support from Friends and Family Members

In my opinion a solid support system is one of the best tools one can have in fighting their addiction to drugs. Support from friends and family members can also give one motivation to combat their addiction. The support from loving family members and friends can help one feel better about themselves. It can also help one see the light at the end of the tunnel.

12 step programs like NA and AA are great support systems

Many rehabs require their patients to attend 12 step meetings during their stay in rehab and they also encourage them to use it when they leave treatment. I personally like the NA program but I have also attended AA as well.

Winning the battle against drugs and alcohol is difficult, but it can be done. Enrolling in a rehab center, getting support from friends, and reading inspirational books can help one deal with this serious issue successfully. Making a decision is the first step towards recovery!

Why not stop drug abuse today and make a commitment to quit drugs now.

Good luck
