I would defiantly do what I could to quit methadone. When I was on methadone to me it was like I had a ball and chain on me because I had to plan everything around getting my dose of methadone; for instance, if I wanted to go visit someone in another state I would have to talk with the counselor and make arrangements to either get enough take homes for the trip or to be dosed along the way in other methadone treatment centers. There are many qualified methadone rehab centers that can help you to get off of methadone. They will administer other prescription medications to help you get through the methadone withdrawal. Keep in mind it may take a little longer to detox from methadone because methadone has a half life although it should not take more than 6 or 7 days.

The choice is ultimately up to you but for my money I would defiantly consider going to a methadone rehab to overcome an addiction to methadone.
