How to overcome Percocet addiction
One might like to know a little bit about the history of Percocet it was invented in Germany in 1916 along with a slew of other drugs that were created to try to improve the number one existing pain reliever called morphine. Oxycodone is an opiate drug extracted from opium-derived thebaine which is the main ingredient in this opioid drug. This medication is intended for the relief of moderate to severe pain.
Here is a list of drugs that contain Oxycodone that are made by different drug companies. The later contain Oxycodone and ibuprofen. These drugs are all habit forming but a better word here is would be that they are addicting and caution should be used when ever any of these drugs are used!
Endocet, Tylox, Roxicet); with aspirin (e.g., Percodan, Endodan, Roxiprin); and with ibuprofen.
Now I know that a lot of people become addicted to this drug in a variety of ways; for instance, they start out taking it for severe pain and end up taking more than was prescribed and the end result was Percocet addiction.
Believe me I know how often this happens that’s why I always try to suggest to people that if they can get by with something like Motrin or some other over the counter do so. I mean if you really need it by all means take it I am not a Doctor.
A lot of the time the first thing a Dr. does when one comes in with some type of pain is to write a prescription which contains Oxycodone or hydrocodone.
Then there are those who we will call Dr. Seekers they are the ones who will fake one type of pain or another other and specifically ask for the type of drug they happen to be seeking that day. Trust me here I have been there and done that.
We used to have a string of Dr’s from here to Tim buck Too and we knew what they would write for before we went to see them. Do not do as I did the result could be the same as me 30 plus hard years of addiction.
How to overcome an addiction to percocet
Now if this sounds familiar to you and you want to overcome Percocet addiction then I would strongly recommend that you go to oxycodone treatment or some kind of opiate rehab.
Some of you know call this drug Oxy’s and if you make up your mind to go there you can be detoxed from Oxycodone with little fear of Oxy withdrawal.
Then you can move on to residential treatment where you will learn how to stop using percocet. Oxy addiction can be beat but you will have to take action no one can force you to do it you must want it.
Getting through opiate withdrawal with little to no pain
There is a way to make it through withdrawal with very little pain; in fact, this can be done in a number of opiate rehabs around the country. The best way to go about finding a opiate rehab that suits your needs is to go online. I would try to locate a rehab that uses medical opiate detox as a form of substance abuse treatment.
The reason for this is that with a medical detox you will not feel the percocet withdrawal symptoms once the medication that is used to stop the pain of withdraw kicks in. This is by far the best way I know of to stop using this drug.
I would also try and find the drug rehab as close to your home as possible because that way family and friends can come to see you and be there for support. This is very important because most addicts already are felling like crap and like no one loves them. Just by showing up could very well make a huge difference in their recovery it may even be the deciding factor of whether they get clean or not. So if possible be there to support your loved ones and friends.
Have a recovery plan for when you leave opiate addiction rehab
I am going to be real honest with you here because now that I am clean and sober I believe in telling things the way they are so here goes. If you do not have a recovery plan when you get out of rehab you will relapse and I can pretty much guarantee it too. You may even use as soon as you leave rehab I know that I did this once.
A sound recovery plan could include attending 12 step meetings such as NA or AA. If you decide to use these programs as part of your recovery plan I would have to say that this is an excellent move I used NA when I left rehab and I still use it a whole lot of years later. It is important to establish a habbit of going to meetings on a regular basis and regular means every day.
While attending meetings get some phone numbers and go to coffee with the other people in the fellowship. Doing this you will find that they will be there to help you anytime you need it and you may even make some very good friends because if you want to stay clean you old friends or rent a buddies have to go.
There is another option that you could use and this is drug addiction therapy. I also have used this and it works wonders as far as taking a look at your life and making some positive changes in it. You may even want to go to your meetings and addiction therapy too. This will strengthen your recovery program and may just help prevent a relapse. This may sound like a lot but I would have to ask how much time you spent thinking about as well as try to find means to get more drugs. I think if one looks at in this regards they will see that it is a drop in the bucket when compared to the effort that it takes to keep using drugs.
Good luck
