Grow strong in opiate addiction treatment

One thing about opiate addiction treatment that you have to be aware of is that when you stop using any type of opiate including heroin is that after using for an extended period you are going to be dope sick if you suddenly discontinue it use in other words you will experience opiate withdrawal.

Now how sick you will be will vary between individuals. A lot of this will depend on the length and the amount of the drug you were using each day. If you have been using a lot every day for many years the way I was then it would be my guess that you will need some kind of treatment. I can tell you this if you have never been through opiate withdrawal cold turkey it can be on the brutal side without medications to ease the pain of withdraw.

The good news is that if you are tired of living a lie and sick and tired of basically being sick and tired just maybe you are ready to do something different. What I mean by different is doing things almost the completed opposite of the way you were doing things, for instance, asking for help instead of trying to do things by yourself. We have found that we can not get clean and stay clean alone we need help. I know that it is difficult for opiate addicts to ask for help but it must be done.

You can start asking as soon as you have had enough of being beat down by opiate addiction. I would start by asking someone that I know who can help to get into an opiate addiction treatment center or rehab.

This is the first step of getting clean and finding a new way to live. In addiction treatment you will be detoxed from all opiates like hydrocodone. This will be done medically by individuals who have been trained specifically to help people with an addiction.

Getting through opiate withdrawal

What will happen is that a staff member will show you to the detox area and go over the rules and other important things you may need to know. Next they will more than likely administer medications to help ease the pain of opiate withdrawal. The opiate detox will take several days in which you may be a little uncomfortable but the medications should prevent any serious withdrawal and in a lot of cases people report no discomfort what so ever.

Now when you are done with your opiate detox those who have been to rehab will know that the next part of getting better happens in residential treatment this is where you will learn some very valuable information on how to remain drug free when you leave opiate addiction treatment.

Let me just add that if you do not continue with residential treatment you will fail miserably with an opiate relapse and some people neverĀ  make it back to treatment again they either die from the horrors of addiction or use until they are beyond the point of no return. Don’t let this happen to you.

Good luck
