10 Things you will need to know when you go cold turkey heroin.

1. One big thing you can expect is to have insomnia.

2. You will more than likely experience leg or stomach cramps.

3. Goose flesh.

4. Diarrhea

5. Headache.

6. Nausea and vomiting.

7. Hot and cold sweats.

8. Urges to use heroin.

9. Wanting to give up.

10. Restlessness or irritability.

Now here is how to go about actually stopping heroin cold turkey.

First of all I would highly recommend that you try and stay awake as much as possible before you actually intend to stop using heroin. This may help you to sleep through the worst or your heroin withdrawal. I have done this myself and it does work.

Next you will want to go to your local drugstore and buy some over the counter medications to help your heroin cold turkey. I would suggest getting some Motrin and Tylenol for headache and cramps, now for the insomnia you can purchase Benadryl as for the diarrhea get some kaopeptate or like medication.

Now after you get all your goodies I would defiantly invite a friend or family member to come stay with me they can help to encourage you when the going gets tuff and you want to give up. More support is very important to a heroin addict we need to know that we are important and that someone does in fact care about us too.

This should be a great start for anyone who is trying to quit using heroin. I would make some plans on what I was going to do once I finish the cold turkey heroin. Like do you intend to go to NA meetings if so then you will want to find out where and when they meet.

Remember that this will by know means be easy and that do not feel bad if you can not make it because there is always heroin treatment.

If you did not succeed in your heroin cold turkey at home detox then I would suggest that you go to a conventional drug rehab where you can be detoxed from heroin using prescription medications such as suboxone or subutex. These drugs are marvelous to treat heroin withdrawal with a minimal of pain while detoxing.

If you go to a heroin addiction rehab you you will first meet with the doctor of the facility who will make sure your fit and also prescribe your medications that you will need during your stay in heroin rehab.

After this you will meet with a staff member who will take you to your room and will more than likely administer your heroin detox medication. They will be there to help you around the clock and support you anyway within reason that they can. I have liked all the staff members that I have met in my many stays in drug rehab and I am pretty sure you will too. If you just hang in there you will be feeling better than you have in a long time in just a few short days.

Good luck
