Rapid Heroin Detox

If you are addicted to heroin, going through a rapid heroin detox can be extremely hard on your entire body. Heroin is a highly addictive opiate. People who have become very tolerant to the drug are used to taking in large amounts of it.

This has a huge affect on your body. Your entire body, including the nervous system, becomes accustomed to functioning with the heroin in it. Therefore, if you suddenly stop taking the drug you will have some pretty severe reactions.

Heroin withdrawal symptoms

You are taking away something that the body will thinks is a necessary component that it needs to function properly. Some of the most agonizing withdrawal symptoms that you may experience are vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, depression, tremors, anxiety, depression, convulsions, and in some cases even death especially if the person’s health happens to be below par when they attempt their rapid heroin detox.

Cold turkey heroin detox

Heroin detox and especially withdrawal from heroin can be a very brutal process in which you are going to be retraining your body to live without what it has grown to know and love.

If you are addicted to heroin and are ready to stop, it is highly important that you do not just stop using heroin suddenly unless you have no other alternative. If you do so you are at risk of throwing your body into shock. If you are thinking about a cold turkey heroin or opiate detox then here is what to expect. Now if you are going to kick heroin at home cold turkey there are a few things you can do to make your withdrawl a little more tolerable.

The first thing you should do is invite someone to come stay with you during your detox. Next plan out when you intend to stop using heroin and then stay awake two days in a row without sleeping. The idea is that it will help you to sleep through the worst part of your withdraw from heroin. There are also some over the counter medications that you can use that may help. Get some Motrin for cramping and restless leg syndrome, I would also get some Benadryl just incase you still can not sleep, lastly get some Imodium to help with diarrhea.

Rapid detox procedure

Once you arrive at the rapid detox facility a professional medical staff will use anesthesia to render you unconscious then they will administer prescription medications to remove all the opiates from your system. This can take several hours. Some patients report not feeling any heroin withdrawal symptoms upon awakening while others say the procedure was lacking.

This rapid opiate detox procedure can be dangerous and some people have actually died from being under too long. It is imperative that you do some research and find the best rapid heroin detox you can. Give the ones that you think that you may be interested in using a call and ask questions; for example, ask them how much it costs, ask them how long you will be under and what medications they use to remove the opioid’s from your system.

One more thing you can do is ask them what there success rate is. Keep in mind that this procedure is very expensive and I doubt that your insurance will cover it. You should seek help from a medical professional or a licensed treatment or detox center.

One drawback that rapid detox has is that they do not have any program to help the addict stay clean when they leave detox. In my opinion that unless one has a solid recovery plan in place they are just wasting there money because anyone who does not will relapse and this will not take long.

Rapid opiate detox verse conventional opiate rehab

In conventional opiate rehab you will be medically detox from heroin and it takes around 5 days compared to a few hours in the ultra rapid detox but in opiate addiction rehab once your detox and getting through opiate withdrawal you will go directly to residential treatment to learn how to stay clean. They offer some great addiction recovery tools and they will have one on one drug counseling, group, lectures, and 12 step meetings. I have to say with this kind of treatment one stands a pretty good chance of beating addiction if they use what they have learned on a daily basis and taking action even when you do not feel like it.

I have been to opiate or heroin rehab a few times although I dd not stay clean long on account of I did not have a plan when I left rehab so I relapsed in no time at all. It took me many years to put it all together and do the things I need to remain clean and sober but I did them and I have been clean for years now.

I have come to believe that anyone can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use drugs, and find a new way to live and this means anyone who is reading this article that is trying to stop using drugs.

Good luck
