Many people are asking what are my options as far as an opiate detox?
If you are wondering what your options are for an opiate detox read on.Well honestly this will depend on a couple of key factors which include what opiate you are trying to kick and how much and how often were you in fact using this drug. Once we have established this we can begin to come up with a solid plan for you.
One option is the opiate cold turkey but your probably looking for some type of opiate addiction rehab but never the less some people may want to know the best way to go cold turkey with an opiate home detox so I will tell you what my experience with it was.
At home opiate detox
First thing you will want to do is devise a plan on exactly how your plan to stop using opiates. This plan should include a loved one or a friend staying with you while you are detoxing from opiates at home. Next way to prepare your self to detox would be to stay awake two days in a row before the day you are to quit using opiates. It has been my experience that you should be tired enough to actually sleep through the nasty parts of your withdraw from opiates.
The good thing about having a person stay with you during your home detox is for one just knowing someone cares enough about you to be with you during this ordeal will me a lot to most addicts because once we have gotten to this point we are feeling pretty much all alone in the world. They may also prevent you from doing something stupid like giving up and going to get some dope.
How to get through opiate withdrawal at home
Now keep in mind that opiate withdrawal by no means is going to be a cake walk you will be plenty sick trust me been there and done that but you can make it if you just bear down and do it. I would also make sure that you have plenty of Motrin around for cramping and headaches. Another thing that can come in handy would be Imodium for diarrhea and some Benadryl in case you still are having problems sleeping.
This should pretty much do it all you need to do now is make plans to do it and you can start this process right now so be strong and you will be just fine!
Getting through opiate withdrawal with a medical detox
If you did not make it through your detox or made it but soon after you relapsed on opiates then you may consider going to an opiate addiction rehab. In opiate rehab you will be in a safe environment and not have to worry about drugs because they are not allowed. Another great thing about opiate rehab are the staff they will treat you like a human being and not like a burnt out dope fiend. They will be there to monitor you around the clock seven days a week. If you are having a medical drug detox they will administer prescription medications as need to help ease the pain of opiate withdrawal.
Good luck
