How to beat Lortab Addiction
I am not sure if many people are aware of the fact that Lortab addiction is quite common in our society as a whole; furthermore, the drug lortab is often used to control mild to moderate pain and is best at relieving pain before it becomes severe.
The main ingredient in lortab is hydrocodone and this drug can be found in many other pain killing drugs one that you have probably heard of is vicodin.
It does carry the potential for abuse. Therefore this is the reason for writing this post so you can learn how to beat lortab addiction.
This drug is starting to gain popularity due to it’s piece of cake availability. One reason loritab addiction is so common is due to the fact that physicians are not writing as many prescriptions for vicodin these days.
Some people become addicted to lortab by legitimate means; for example, they go to their family physician with some type of injury and are suffering from severe pain and the Dr. prescribes lortab. Well what generally happens is the drug works wonders for a while then one day they find it is no longer controlling their pain so they decide to increase the dose without letting their Dr. know.
When they do this enough times it will create a tollerance and what this means is the person will have to take more and more to achieve the desired effect. If this type of abuse continues there is no doubt in my mind that it will lead to a lortab addiction.
Lortab addiction is quite common among high school students today. They often get them from their parents medicine cabinet or a lortab dealer.
Getting through lortab withdrawal
Lortab contains hydrocodone, an opiate and a controlled substance. It can be a good thing for patients dealing with severe pain. Its benefits can morph into a tremendous problem once the pain has faded. Addiction can set in after as little as a month of use. Addicted patients who try to stop using will have to deal with not only residual pain but also lortab withdrawal.
To minimize the symptoms of withdrawal, avoid stopping the medication all at once. Consult the prescribing physician about ways to wean a user off the drug. How long this takes will depend on the dosage and the frequency at which the medication was taken. Keep the doctor informed of any problems encountered while tapering off the drug. The physician may advise a longer weaning period before discontinuing the drug.
Support groups for hydrocodone patients are available both in person and on the Internet. Above all, do not be embarrassed to ask for help in quitting. Needing help with withdrawal from lortab does not make a patient an addict. Not quitting does.
One thing you need to know is that if you were using lortab quite heavily you can expect to have lortab withdrawal. Lortab Withdrawal can be taken care of either at home with suboxone or in a drug rehab. Keep in mind that suboxone is expensive and I do not know of any insurance that will cover it yet.
It is possible to stop using lortab and overcome lortab addiction before it gets this far. This is how I would suggest you go about it but you could try going to hydrocodone treatment.
If you choose to go to rehab to be helped for your addiction to lortab I can tell you this that from my experience you will be well taken care of by a staff of trained medical assistants. They will be with you around the clock to see to your needs as well as to administer medication to help ease the discomfort of your lortab withdrawal symptoms.
Now you may want to plan on being off of work for at least 5 days for your detox but I would recommend that you get the full treatment effect witch is 14 days because those who do not go to residential treatment end up relapsing soon after leaving treatment.

Residential treatment
In residential treatment you will be required to attend lectures, group, 12 step meetings, one on one addiction therapy. One good thing about this you will be around others just like you who are doing their best to overcome addiction. This will also give you the opportunity to practice being around others while you are clean and sober and trust me here it does take some getting used to especially if you have use for years.
Let me just be blunt with you here “do not get in a relationship while in rehab.” For one they do not work and most people that try it end up relapsing together anyway you are supposed to be concentrating on how to stop using drugs and stay clean. I can also tell you that if you do not get clean and stay drug free you will never have a meaningful relationship period!
Now if you do somehow manage to stay clean anything is possible. When I use to here that I thought ya right but since being clean for a while and going back to school I now understand that anything is indeed possible with God. So if you want to further your education or be a CEO of a major organization I say go for it and give it all you have and it will happen.
Now before you leave rehab you have a plan. Write down the plan you have for beating loritab addiction. I hope this plan includes attending NA meetings on a regular basis. Let me clue you in on this regular means every day. Many addicts have got clean in NA and found a life worth living so can you. Get help today.
Good luck

Someone please help!!! I am extremely young and I was first prescribed lortab after a car accident in 2007. I have been taking about 8 10mg lortab per day. I am on day two of no pills at all. I feel soooo bad. I cannot concentrate at work and my body aches soooo bad. I have been taking 800mg ibuprophen to help with back pain however I still crave the opiate. I am only 24 and I should not have this problem.

Hi there
If you are on day two by tomorrow you should not be feeling any serious withdrawals but however this does not mean you are going to feel like you have rainbows shooting out of your butt or anything like that because if you have been using them since 2007 it is going to take time; if fact, it could take years to get back to what you would call feeling normal and that is if you ever do.
I can tell you this if you hang in there things will get better but on the other hand if you use again thing will progressively get worse this you can count on for sure..
Good luck
