How to overcome Roxy addiction and find recovery without relapsing on drugs or alcohol
When it comes to Roxy addiction or really any drug addiction I think people like to try to figure out where it came from and how they actually go started ect’…however in the beginning this is unimportant. What we need to know is that if we continue down this road that leads absolutely nowhere except to degradation, desolation, and destruction we will either die, or go to the penitentiary or we will recover. I know this may sound harsh but it is the truth and I have seen it happen time and time again.
This drug is very akin to the deadly drug heroin and it is coined on the streets as “drug store heroin”. It is quite expensive and comes in a Variety of generic forms and strengths. If you are planning to stop using roxy’s at home keep in mind that roxycodone withdrawals are very intense.
Many people including myself turn to roxies for strength to give us the energy we need to face life on a daily basis but this comes at a high price. That’s right addicts pay a high price for a low life.
How to stop using roxy’s and overcome roxy addiction
Many drug addicts say that when one is addicted to oxycontin they run a high risk for depression. Here’s why, when the actually begins oxycodone addiction first begins to kick in most roxy addicts lose interest in the activities that they used to enjoy there this is when there addiction took control of their lives.
What happen next is now you are depressed but simple tasks such as housework become practically unfathomable. If you have reached this point it may be a good time to seek some drug addiction recovery. This is not as hard as it seems all you have to do is put one foot in front of the other and take action.
Getting through roxy withdrawal
There are many qualified drug rehabs out there that can safely detox you from roxy’s. I would look for an opiate addiction rehab or treatment center that consistently treats opiate addiction. They will be able to help you to get through your oxy withdrawal with a minimal amount of pain.
Roxycodone addiction help
If you do make the decision to get some roxycodone addiction help you will first meet with the doctor to see if you are fit enough to make it through oxy withdrawal. Once this is determined you will be taken by staff members to the detox area where you will be given medications to help with your opiate detox.
This will more than likely take a least five days to complete but this is only the first step. Step two is residential treatment. And lastly there is roxy addiction recovery.
Roxy addiction recovery will help keep you clean and sober and from relapsing on drugs or alcohol.
There are a couple of approaches one can use as far as roxies addiction recovery is concerned. First lets talk about addicting therapy in residential you did this but it was just touching the surface stuff if you get into drug addiction therapy when you go home it will be a lot deeper. I used it and I can not tell you how it freed me up. I shared things with my therapists that I had never told another living soul. I am sure this is a big part of why I am clean today.
If you decide to try this take your time learn to trust your therapist and share light weight stuff that you really do not care who finds out about it. If you fell comfortable doing this the next time share something a little more personal. Keep doing this until you are happy joyous and free.
Roxy addiction recovery
The next alternative is 12 step meetings for this I choose NA. I just seemed to relate better there but AA will work just as well. I like to suggest to all new comers or those coming back from a relapse to attend 90 meetings in 90 days and to get a sponsor. This will give you a foundation to start building your new life on. While there get some phone numbers and go to coffee with some of the other addicts. I would also practice using those numbers because one never knows when you may want to use and if your are used to calling them you will have no problem calling someone and telling them you feel like using.
Roxy addiction recovery will help keep you clean and sober and from relapsing on drugs or alcohol.
Good luck

I really can’t understand how 1 gets addicted to prescription drugs. After I had my son, I had a c-section, the doctor prescribe me some typ of pills, can really remember for the pain. After 1, I was out for 12 hours dosing in and out, not being able to focus. I can take any prescribe meds without being drowzy and sleeping for hours. I hate that feeling. I can see how people like to go around like the walking dead and think thats cool.
Art Says:
Thanks for sharing Renee. Yes some people who are not addicts have a very difficult time understanding why addicts do what they do and I am not about to attempt to explain it to you because you more than likely would still not understand. It would be my hope for you that you continue not to like the feeling that drugs gave you.
Good luck and God bless

Nobody understands what an addict goes through on an everyday life. My life had turned to shit (still had good relations with family/friends/etc… nobody but friends knew of my addiction) spending literally thousands and thousands of dollars for heroin (my drug addiction.) I finally got so fed up with the life i was living i just made the decision to be a normal person again. Be a funtioning member of society. I quit using 3 days ago (i know, not long) but am so disgusted by what its made me go through that i will never touch it again. I have non-using friends helping me through the hell of detox but i just keep telling myself that a month from now, i will look back and be so proud of what i’ve done/accomplished. It is harder than anything else in life. I was raised by an extremely good family, i love them all to death (even my step-father) and have been fortunate enough to live in a big house, get all the newest and nicest things, etc… I live an amazing life and i was raised too good to keep up the life i lived. Well not anymore. When your ready to say enough is enough, STICK TO IT!! I could have quit months ago and look back on it and be fully clean today, but i kept putting it off. Dont procrastinate it, get it over and done with and live a nice life. Not dependant on a substance. Nobody deserves it, yet we all bring it upon ourselves. I hope the best for everyone that decides to change their life the way i did. Good luck and best wishes.

Hi Jason thanks for sharing you are an inspiration to us all and congrats on your decision to stop using drugs just remember take it easy and one day at a time because there will be bad days ahead but remember there will also be great days and having the felling of being free from addiction.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing

Hi my daughter is 21 years old and she is addicted to Roxy’s, this has been going on for at least a couple of years now. It escalated to her shooting them, I guess the snorting just didnt work anymore. The reality altering and lying etc that goes along with this drug reached an all time high, her lifestyle and behavior became unbearable for her and us – There were many sleepless nights and mornings wondering if your child was even alive. Until one day about 2 months ago she finally got tired of it I guess and attended an NA meeting, there she met a gentleman and he offered to help her get off the drug. They got her on “suboxin” for the detox process and I say within about a week she was completely off and was doing terrific. She looked better, felt better we had our daughter back. She stayed clean for almost 45 days. Well, just recently she replased – and it seems like it is worse then ever now.
I am in fear for my daughters life and desperately want to get her off of this once and for all. This is a horrible, horrible drug and it seems like there is no hope. Structured treatment is so expensive…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Mark thanks for sharing
Yes addiction is a progressive disease which means when we quit using are disease is still progressing and if we return to active addiction things will be worse. I know I have been there and done it.
Ok my suggestion for your daughter is this she did great for 45 days this means it was working for her. I would say she should go back to the mettings and share about her relapse trust me they understand and they will show her a lot of love for doing this too. One more thing I would say even though the guy helped her to get clean she should get with the other women in NA anyway that’s the way its done.
Good luck and let us know how she is doing

I have been on pain pills since I was hit by a car when I was 13 years old. I now am 37. I hvaent had a great life, my parents werent rich, and I certainly didn’t marry for money. My whole entire life I have worked jobs that kills your body. For example, I have been a waitress for the past 5 years, also a bartender for 3 years, worked as a laborer in a citrus packinghouse for about 15 years off and on. I have moved furnitire, lifted drywall, you name it, I have done it. I started working at the tender age of 14. my parents divorced, my mother became an alcoholic, and I had no one to support me or take care of me. The only thing that saved me was my medication, that was the only way I could get up and move, my body was riddled with pain from the accident and was getting worse. Now at 37, I just had a major surgery in my neck, they replaced a disc in my neck and now I have a plate with 4 screws in my neck and have to have this neck brace on for 6 months. I need my roxycodone. If I dont have it, I would be in excrutiating pain. I also knw the addiction side of the cituation. But the ones woh are abusing it, they make it hard for the people like me who REALLY need it. I have been battling this for over 15 years now, if anyone has any questions, please dont hesitate to ask. Jenner
Art Says:
Hi Jenner thanks a lot for sharing with us your struggle with pain and having to use pain medication to make it to work and basically to function and have a somewhat normal life. I agree with you one hundred per cent some people really do need pain medication to like I just said to be able to function at all in fact even with pain medication some can not.
Yes the people that do abuse roxys and other medication do make it harder for folks to understand that some people really do need it.
Good luck

I was doing 15-30mg a day on and off for 2 weeks. Just for no particular reason other than curiosity and boredom as my best friend has a ‘legal” rx for these but is clearly addicted although he’d never admit it. It’s weird.. He does legally “need” them. I mean, I’ve seen the xrays/mris and seem the pain he’s actually in. But I also see him pop a Roxy just to motivate himself to clean his house.
I’m one of the rare people who don’t get addicted to things. I understand why people turn to drugs and want that numbing feeling. Even my own life is shit and there are times I would’ve loved to have a few Roxies. I’m such a loser that I wouldn’t even know how to go about getting these off the street even if I wanted them again. Bottom line is these things numb you. It’s like some form of novacaine going through your veins. It’s almost like the feeling you get when given anesteisha before getting surgery and being knocked out. Miserable people love this feeling. You don’t have to think anymore or feel anymore and you’re still alive.
So I’m not addicted to these things but can see why its so hard to get off them. The withdrawl effects are crazy and intense. I have muscle aches and cramping in areas I didn’t even know could cramp like under my chin. Half the people taking these things for “pain” are probably taking them for the “pain” they feel when withdrawling. I slept great last night but woke up with back aches, leg aches.. all kinds of weirdness. General weakness. My brain isn’t fully functioning back to normal yet. Not fun now that vacation time is over and I am back in work.
I guess by reading this website it will be about 5 days before they’re fully out of my system. This is going to be fun.
Art Says:
Hi J thanks for sharing with us. It is not for me to say whether you are addicted or not but I am wondering if your not why did you use roxys to the point of withdrawal?
One more thing I use to say that I was one of those people who never get addicted to anything this may be true right now but one never knows what tomorrow will bring!
Good luck

I am trying to see what are the withdrawal effects when someone tryes to come off of roxy’s. My boyfriend is shooting them and i am unfamilar with them so i am at a lost.

Art Says:
Hi Theresa thanks for sharing with us
Well to be real honest with you there is absolutely nothing you can do to help her at this point. The thing is she is going to have to make the decision to get help and until she is ready there is nothing anyone can say or do that will keep her from using drugs.
This is from the NA basic text and this hits the nail right on the head when it comes to people with a drug addiction.
“They can be analyzed, counseled, reasoned with, prayed over, threatened, beaten, or locked up, but they will not stop until they want to stop.”
Good luck

My 21 year old daughter has been on these for a few years now. She called me 01/26/2012 to come and get her. She said she had enough of living on the streets, and with drugs. We spent the next day in BARC our locale addiction recovery center in Broward County and the hospital for 14 hrs. They didn’t have a spot for at the time but she was first on the list to get in. She did well for a couple of days but on 01/28/2012 the urge got the best of her and she left before she could get in to rehab. I had a friend post this on her Facebook page.
To whom it may concern,
This is a plea to get my daughter Nicole off the streets, off drugs, and into rehab. She called me on 01/26/2012 to come and get her in Pompano, said she had enough of living on the streets and doing drugs. She’s down to 95lbs and in sad shape. While she was at home waiting to get into BARC (rehab) the urge to do the drugs got the best of her and she walked away from her family again on 01/28/2012 back to Pompano I guess. Some of you on here know her personally and know she’s a good kid, a little messed up but a good kid. I’m asking if you cross paths with her or are in contact with her in any way to please help her get on the right track. Enough people have taken advantage of her and abused her. I don’t think she has much left.
Thank you.
Her Dad
