I want to let everyone I possibly can that the drug hydrocodone is running ramped and many are being treated for hydrocodone addiction across the United States as well as the majority of many foreign countries.

One reason for this is the mass marketing of drugs such as vicodin and lortab. These drugs are produced overseas and sold in the United States as generic brands. They can also be purchased over the internet both legally and illegally. I am not sure this is such a good idea because as we all know our kids practically live on the internet. It could be a problem if they learn how to order them and it is not too hard. One good thing is that an adult has to sign for them.

Vicodin addiction

There was a reported 135 million prescriptions written for drugs containing hydrocodone in the United States alone I would hate to guess what it is worldwide. Hydrocodone is the nations most prescribed medication. This is just one reason for the increase in  hydrocodone abuse.

There are hundreds of these products available under many brand names but the most popular brands are Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet and Norco. Be advised all of these medications are extremely addictive use them with this in mind because one does not want to end up having to beat a vicodin addiction.

I would recommend trying something like Motrin if at all possible it is not addictive and works well for pain. There are a lot of alternatives to using hydrocodone for pain maybe you should seek out a few and give them a try anything is better than becoming addicted to painkillers.

Teenage substance abuse and pharm parties

The shocking thing about opiate addiction is that it is affecting are youth everywhere not just in the United States places like England report alarming rates of addiction there also.Another big problem is that so many scripts are written to people that are going to doctors with minor pain ailments and given these drugs.

What happens next is that they then take them home and just leave them on the kitchen counter or wherever is convenient. This needs to stop because are youth are stealing these drugs from their parents and some of them will take them to a pharm party.  There is a solution to this problem and it is that the parents need to be advised to keep all prescription drugs under lock and key at all times. This is a very simple step to help prevent an addiction to this drug. If I were you I would take an inventory of my medication and lock it up now.

OK from my experience I have seen over the years that a lot of people will go to rehab to escape the fear and discomfort of withdrawal. This is fine but lets be real about this you can not stay in rehab forever you will eventually have to face the real world and all the situations that you left when you entered rehab.

It is not enough just to stop using drugs we must learn how to live all over again  and this is a process because what a lot of us new about living you could put in thimble.

I started using prescription drugs over 30 years ago. Looking back I believe that I became addicted on my first use of prescription drugs. I was in high school and one of the guys I used to hang around got some pills called Quaalude’s. I decided that I would try them out and let me tell you that the euphoria was so intense plus I felt so relaxed and at peace that everything in the world seemed so right.

If I could have only seen the destruction that was to follow in the years to come you would do something about your addiction while you could. There lies the problem we often do not see the problem until it is too late. Well now I know that it was all a lie that destroyed my life. Do not let prescription drug abuse destroy your life. I would say at the very minimum you must do this if you want to stay clean. Those of us who keep secrets usually end up relapsing. The best kept secret is that addicts do recover and find a new way to live one day at a time if for some reason this does not work or if you find yourself continually relapsing then you may want to consider long term treatment. One of the best choices I ever made in my life was going to long term treat men. Maybe you should consider some type of long term drug treatment.
