Withdrawal from heroin

If you are ready to take the necessary action to stop using heroin then I would try to find a treatment center in my location that specializes in heroin withdrawal. First of all give them a call and find out if they except insurance and so forth also ask if they have heroin detox and residential treatment.

The residential treatment is really needed for all heroin addicts. Just a trying a heroin detox will not cut it, you must  go to treatment to learn how not to use and then you will not have to worry about how to beat heroine withdrawal again.

I have done all of these programs before many times in the past I used heroin for over 30 years in and out of jail but by the grace of God I am clean today without the desire to use and you can be too if you take action. One thing good about it is that I never have to worry about running out again or for that matter getting through another bout of heroin detox.

I have said this before and I will continue to say it now and they any drug addict can stop using, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live this even includes the people who have lost all hope of ever getting clean. I am will to bet that if you take action and do just half of what I did you to can stop using!

How to successfully minimize the pain and discomfort while withdrawing  from heroin without using other drugs

The symptoms of opiate withdrawal include;

  • Insomnia
  • Vomiting
  • Erratic movements when walking
  • Diarrhea
  • Goose bumps
  • Restless leg syndrome

Withdrawals can even be fatal but very to a longtime user who is already in poor health that attempts to stop using without heroin addiction help.

The high experience had on heroin actually comes about because the drug settles in the brain and affects the activity of the central nervous system.  In effect, the central nervous system is being shut down.

The best way to quit heroin is to locate a professional heroin treatment facility which offers specialized drug therapies, including substitution and step down drugs during the withdrawal.  Therapy to learn techniques to remain off of the drug is also important.  In such a controlled environment, withdrawal symptoms are still present and can be very unpleasant.

Generally, withdrawal symptoms begin between six hours and two days after stopping use, depending on how long an individual has been using.  Symptoms of withdrawal start with more minor things such as flushing in the face, agitated demeanor, and pacing.

Symptoms elevate to uncontrolled fits, vomiting, and diarrhea if there is no substitute drug used to ease withdrawal.  One of the things drug therapy can assist with is to control these symptoms while heroin is naturally flushed from the body through urinating and sweating.

Ongoing withdrawal symptoms can include the desire to isolate oneself or feelings of isolation, as well as increased awareness of one’s environment.  Since many heroin addicts also have other medical conditions, these continued symptoms can be difficult to deal with.

Additional symptoms may include involuntary or spastic movement of arms and legs.   The length of time an individual spent using heroin, along with the amount of heroin used, can impact the length and severity of all withdrawal symptoms.

Stop drug abuse and begin heroin addiction recovery

If you have tried going to 12 step meetings and could not stay clean and you have also been to residential treatment a couple of times do not let this stop you from trying again keep on trying and never ever give up because one never knows when the miracle will happen and it will a come together for you and you can start to enjoy life again in heroin addiction recovery.

Now if you do not think residential drug treatment will work for you there is another option which is long term drug rehab. I can pretty much tell you that long term treatment save me from dying in active addiction.

Long term rehab will give you the chance to learn how to live life without drinking alcohol or using drugs and you will be living in a safe environment. There are many other benefits to long term treatment also. One of which you take advantage of changing occupations or careers if you wish or you can go back to school and get a degree. I chose to go back to school.

If you can not stop using drugs and have tried every way you could why not give long term drug rehab a chance it may just save your life too. Here is the thing once we free ourselves from drug addiction we can become anything we wish to be and also the person we always desired to be.

Good luck
