Heroin withdrawal length

Heroin withdrawal length symptoms generally peak within 36-72 hours and may last for 7-14 days. The worst part is usually the first 3 to 5days after that it is just about your body getting back to its normal rhythm. We have jacked our bodies all out of whack for so long it’s a miracle they bounce back at all;

In fact, if you are a heavy heroin user and have been using for a number of years it could take up to two years for your mind and body to get back to normality. Now keep in mind you may never get back to the way that you used to be but you will be a hell of a lot better than you decided to go to detox and kick heroin.

Getting through post acute heroin withdrawal syndrome

When I got clean the first time around my mind was pretty much in a fog a lot of the time I could not sleep and I pretty much felt bad every day. I was fond of saying what did I stop using for if I knew it was going to be like this I never would have stopped. Now this was B.S. I was just letting off a little frustration because there was no way I wanted to go back to using and this is the truth.

My point here is if you have any of these symptoms just hang in there because they will pass my did and so will yours it just takes time and remember we did not become addicted in one day so we will not fully recover in one either.

Heroin withdrawal length will vary

The heroin withdrawal length will vary from person to person; for instance if you were a hard and heavy user you can plan on the max and vice versa. It may feel like you are dying the first couple of days but you will not. The only people who die from heroin withdrawal are few and far between and this is only because their health has deteriorated so bad.

If you think you fit this bill then I would suggest that you do not try to kick heroin alone. Seek professional help. One can detox safely in places like heroin treatment.

I have done this myself on occasion and the heroin withdrawal is relatively painless. It works but you need an after care plan. With out one you are more than likely going to repeat your same behavior and we know where this leads us.

If you do choose to go to heroin rehab you can choose to get medically detoxed from heroin and in my opinion it is the best way to go; furthermore it will not cost all that much more.

When you get to rehab you well meet with the attending physician who well make sure you are fit enough to handle a heroin detox and then the medical staff will take you to your room and show you everything plus they will give you your medication to help with your heroin withdrawal symptoms. More than likely medication will be subutex or suboxone.

Subutex and suboxone for heroin withdrawal

The rehabs that I have been to start you out on subutex and after a day or two switch you to suboxone. This process will take most heroin addicts around 4 or 5 days.

I would recommend that when you finish your detox that you continue on in residential treatment.

What we need is a plan of action maybe some NA meetings will work for you I know they will at the very least keep you from isolating one thing I know for sure is that any addict alone is in bad company let me just say that again any addict alone is in bad company. I think we can all relate to this because I know for sure I could talk myself into any thing when it came to using drugs.

Now what we are trying to do here is retrain our minds. This does not happen overnight we will have our ups and downs but we can get clean and find a new way to live and I am living proof of that. I would recommend that if you think you may have a problem and want to learn how to stop using heroin then why not go to heroin rehab now!
