Please help me. Please. I have a very dear friend of mine who is addicted and it is sucking her life away. I think she needs to completely make a break with her current surroundings, go to a detox facility and then go to an entirely new environment. However, if it were me, I'd recoil at the very thought of having power over myself taken away from me. I'd rather risk losing a dear friend than having a dear friend losing herself. I think I'm screwed either way I turn. Please help.

I am kind of amazed no-one has mentioned ibogaine. Instead of 14 days of detox, how about 3, without symptoms of withdrawal?
I am not blowing smoke, here. I have seen this so many times, with my own eyes. Take ibogaine, addiction interrupted. Period.
I work with it, have been doing so for two years at this writing. There's nothing like it in the world. You can find out about it using google, there are tons of videos, websites and scientific studies available. WAY cheaper than 'traditional' detox as well. There are legal clinics in Canada and Mexico, and there is also a very small but active underground in the states.
No need to stay addicted. Iboga is not for everyone, but if any of this grabs you, it might be for you. Check it out.Don't give up. Freedom is possible.

Hi there RK thanks for sharing it is good to here that there are others out there that are getting clean and sharing there experience with other addicts. I can not stress how important this is because there are a lot of addicts out there who have lost all hope and we can give them hope by letting them know that they too can get clean and you are right do not ever ever quit trying to stop using drugs.

Good luck

i too have had a long additiction to heroin with my use up to a gram and a half a day...mostly smoked and some snorted. This drug had taken the life outta me and screwed up my whole life not leaving any aspect untouched. I have tried detoxing too many times to count and probably thought of suicide many times. The only way i got clean from this demon was by leaving my home environment and enrolling in university out of country. If i can do it so can anyone else. I unfortunately went cold turkey due to having no options in a new country. I went through withdrawals for two weeks. I had to use T3s with codeine (10 tabs a day for three days) to fight the pains for a few days. Currently i am thirty days clean. To all out there with this disease YOU CAN QUIT, KEEP TRYING. Any advice anyone???NA meetings, problem is i cant attend any in person. Anyone know of any good sites? Also my joints ache like hell, anything that can help give some relief? IT DOES GET BETTER BY THE DAY, SO IT IS TOTALLY WORTH QUITTING.

i am a mother of a once beautiful outgoing intelligent teenage daughter, she turns 19 tomorrow, who is addicted to heroin for what i am guessing to be a year or so now. She has been through a rehab and halfway house program and still uses. This past week she was caught with it in her possession, a felony, and tried to self detox to be clean for her court date, and failed. She stole her dads car got into a car accident on her way to or from getting her fix and is now in jail - self detoxing. She wants me to bail her out, I don't have the $ and I am convinced that she'll just go get a fix again and run. I want to do the right thing to help her help herself -- reading the internet it sounds like if she goes to jail she will still be able to heroin, if she goes to rehab she will still be able to get heroin. Will she have counseling avail to her in jail? don't know what to recommend or ask the courts to do to best help her. any ideas out there?

The Healing Place of Richmond, VA is where I went to get clean and sober. There is also a Healing Place of Louisville, Ky and Raliegh, NC. One in WV as well though I am uncertain as to its whereabouts. The Healing Place is a long term program (you will be with them upwards of 9 months) that focuses on the 12 Steps of recovery - and it is absolutely, 100% free. Everything is provided for, in terms of meals, shelter (barracks style), water, clothing, etc. Everything is free. They have a social detox on the premises (meaning no medication), and all of the staff members are they themselves in recovery. I implore you, if money has been the excuse, please check these guys out. They have a 70% success rate. I cannot say enough good things; they saved my life - and the lives of countless others. Again I say: IT IS FREE. Good luck.
