Heroin detox 5 for heroin addicts who want to recover from heroin addiction

Going through a heroin detox 5 is a physically exhausting and mentally traumatic experience. Few people can comprehend the level of frustration even if they have gone through abstinence or detox for other chemically addictive substances.

The heroin addict can go through detox safely if he is monitored for the first 5 days without interruption and released with instructions for physical fitness program which is basically a diet and exercise program. Eating right and exercising daily is very important. In recovery we like to work the HALT program which means do not get to hungry angry lonely or tired because when we it opens the door for relapse. I would also encourage you to attend 12 step meetings such as NA. There will be other addicts there just like yourself who are trying there beat to stay drug free one day at a time. Sometimes we have to do it one hour or one minute at a time. This is a great program and I use it myself I would not suggest something to anyone which I have not tried or researched.

During the two weeks of, the heroin addict may have suicidal thoughts. Until the heroin addict’s bran adjusts to the lack of heroin taking the space of natural brain created chemicals, his physical and emotional health could be in jeopardy due to the heroin detox.

The need for physical stimulation and a change of diet and lifestyle is essential to maintain the heroin addict and prevent the almost certain relapse that follows detox without the use of prescription alternatives to heroin.

The need for a change in lifestyle is to excite the brain to prepare for the unexpected in its environment. If the heroin addict returns to his normal lifestyle, his normal addiction which is what his brain has come to expect in his consumption of heroin will return.

A new lifestyle can be found in 12 step meetings like narcotics anonymous. There you will make new friends like yourself who are trying there best to be from drug addiction. New friends are a must you will no longer be able to hang out with the ones that you used with. They probably were not your real friends anyway they just were rent a buddies they were there when you had cash or dope and gone when you had nothing.

Now my suggestion to you is to attend meetings every day for like 90 days this will give your mind a chance to start to learn new behaviors. The only real behaviors I new in the past was getting and finding one more bag of dope no matter what that took.

I would also look for a sponsor while attending meetings. They will be a great form of support for you. Look for one with at least 2 years clean. Ok this should be enough information for the beginning of your new life but it will take action and plenty of it.

Good luck
