Getting through dilaudid addiction

One must really keep in mind when they are battling dilaudid addiction that there are going to be some hard times. How hard is pretty much up to you. I would not hesitate as far as to stop using dilaudid because some addicts use until they are beyond the point of no return or they get wet brain.

One of the best ways to getting through opiate detox is to attend meetings on a regular basis. When is say regular I am referring to every day. A meeting every day will keep you busy and keep your mind off of your dilaudid addiction at least while you are at the meeting. Then when you get home you will have some tools that you got from your meetings to stay clean. We will also meet some new people at the meetings. This was great for me because I could no longer hang out with my old friends because they were still caught up in dilaudid addiction.

One of these tools is phone numbers. They are for when you feel like you want to use. I can not stress how important they are. All you have to do is pass a list around the room and ask for numbers other addicts will be only too glad to give you there number. This is what we do help one another. The key is you will have to use them. I would recommend calling anyone on your list and if you do not know what to say just tell them you are practicing. That’s what I did when I first got clean. A sponsor will be a great help for getting through dilaudid addiction also.

If meetings do not work for you then you may want to consider going to rehab. If you go to rehab you will be medically detoxed from dilaudid. This will be done by people who are trained for this. They will take care of you and make you as comfortable as possible while you are coming off dilaudid. They will give you medications to help ease any withdrawal symptoms that may occur. Dilaudid detox can take up to 5 days. When you are finished I would recommend that you continue your recovery in residential treatment. There you will attend lectures, group, and 12 step meetings. The whole purpose of this is to help you to gain some information on how to remain clean.
