When someone begins smoking heroin, it is highly addictive and can devastate your life quickly.  For someone who wants to quit, the path can be really difficult but it is not impossible.

The first step in recovering from any addiction is to admit that you are an addict.  You also need to realize that recovery will not happen overnight, it takes time.

Enrolling in a long-term rehab center is a good way stop using this drug.  In a rehab program you will receive support from professionals and other recovering addicts who know where you are coming from. This will help you to deal with the depression, anxiety, and irritability associated with heroin withdrawal.  During these initial withdrawal symptoms you can be tempted to relapse, and being in a safe environment can greatly increase your chances of success.

How to stop craving heroin

The cravings that you will experience during your heroin withdrawal stage are both physical and psychological.  You need to keep it in your mind that the cravings will eventually subside.  They come in waves, and although they may be extremely intense, they will pass.  In conclusion, even though smoking heroine can be one of the hardest habits to quit, you can.  The key is to give yourself the chance to succeed, invest the time in a rehab facility for as long as it takes, and work hard to stay clean.

The dangers of smoking heroin are that tolerance can build up rather quickly leading to larger doses or in some case actually shooting heroin. Some New York drug counselors and I would assume others as well have advised their clients to quit shooting heroin and start smoking heroin it instead. They are saying this because they think this will reduce the amount of harm caused to the addict. Although, this sounds good in theory in real life, smoking heroin is probably just as dangerous as injecting it.

Here is what I would suggest if you want to quit smoking heroin. I would recommend that you go to some type of heroin treatment. There you can get all the help you need. They will detox you from heroin medically and not have to worry about suffering a brutal heroin withdrawal. In most case this will take around 3 days but it could take up to 5 for professional heroin users. I was a pro not bragging here just a fact it took me numerous times of trying to get clean and over 30 years as well, so above all never give up.
