Physical signs of heroin or opiate abuse

Your whole world revolves and is about the getting and finding ways and means to get more heroin.

Sooner or later any user of this opioid drug will end up with a heroin abuse addiction

After continued abuse you will develop a tolerance to heroin which means you will have to use more and more to get the same effect at this point you are at a much higher risk of heroin overdose.

The next step will be full blown heroin addiction and if you run out or can not purchase any dope for one reason or another. Then you can prepare yourself for heroin withdrawal.

A lot of addicts will lost interest in things they once enjoyed doing like hobbies, sports and a wide Varity of other things. I enjoyed fishing more than a little bit but once my addiction took control of me I did not wet a line for many years in fact until I go clean and sober.

We have to be beaten in order to become willing to seek recovery

Many of you will continue to use heroin even in spite of the fact that you know it is killing you on the installment plan. Some of you will go to jail commit unimaginable crimes that you would never has done until you became a hard core heroin addict. This was not enough to make us stop either we had to become beaten before we were able to become willing then recovery was possible.

Heroin addiction articles

If you search around the web you can find lots of information but you can not trust all of it.  My articles about addiction are based on real world experience.

Heroin is a very powerful and addictive drug and the addiction associated with it is very hard to overcome.  For people who are dealing with a loved one who is dealing with heroin abuse, it can be a hard road.

Often times, the person addicted to the drug does not realize nor care that they have a problem and need to be coaxed into seeking help.  The Symptoms of abuse are numerous and here are a few to look out for if you suspect that someone you know may have a problem:

1) Shallow breathing

2) Nodding

3) Rapid weight loss

4) Mood swings

5) Nausea and vomiting

6) Clouded thinking

Long term effects of abusing heroin

There are many long-term and damaging effects associated with heroin use including mental illness, chronic physical illness, physical dependence on the drug and even death.

There are many treatment options available and most communities have a drug treatment program.  Treatment for heroin will involve a combination of things including detox, counseling and medications such as suboxone to help kick the habit.

Of course, the person with the addiction may not think they have a problem so the best way to start the road to recovery is for loved ones to stage an intervention to help coax the person into seeking help.

Now keep in mind that sometimes no matter what you try they will not want help. In this case it is best to distance yourself from them do not enable them meaning do not give them money take them anywhere and if they are living with you then you may have to put them out. If you continue to help them it will be just that much longer until they want some heroin addiction help.

Being that I am know clean for heroin I can tell you this from my personal experience with heroin addiction if you do not stop using things are going to get worse it may not be tomorrow but trust me they will get worse.

Whether you know it or not addiction is a progressive disease which basically means if you stop using for a while and they use again you will pick up where you left off when you quit or worse.

When one is addicted to this opioid drug it is impossible to predict what you are going to do next especially if you have a large habit. I have know addicts to resort to armed robbery when they ran out of dope. Some are spending the rest of their lives in prison for one drug related crime or another and I can not tell you the number that died from heroin overdose.

My suggestion to anyone that is suffering from this brutal addiction is to get help there are many heroin rehabs out there with a bed with your name on it..

Good luck
