Defeating Heroin Addiction

The most common way to kick heroin is with a heroin detox from heroin is to replace the drug with methadone. This process can take years and consume the life of the addict seeking recovery. Within the last decade, a new innovative method was introduced. In this method, the addict is put to sleep and a series of drugs are injected into his system. The addict remains unconscious for several hours while the process takes place and they are monitored by medical personnel. When they wake up, they are no longer physically addicted. The process is effective, but it is also very expensive and dangerous. The addict risks insanity or death.

Heroin addiction help

There is heroin addiction help, but this help comes at a high price. The best way to deal with heroin is to stay away from the drug. The price I am speaking of is one must make a commitment to not use heroin no matter what. This requires a complete lifestyle change you will no longer be able to hang out with your using buddies you will have to make some new friends. A great place to do this is in NA there you will meet people like yourself who are trying to beat heroin addiction and doing it one day at a time.

A lot of addicts start this process in heroin addiction rehab. This is where they are introduced to Narcotics Anonymous. They become conditioned to attend meetings and if they are smart they continue when they get out of rehab. NA is world wide so no one should have a problem with stopping heroin if they attend meetings on a regular basis. My suggestion for anyone who is just getting out of rehab is to attend ninety meetings in ninety days and get a sponsor and call them on a daily basis. If you can commit to this then you have a chance of staying clean but on the other hand if you can not you will relapse and there is no guarantee that you will make it back again for another shot at rehab because some do not because some will end up going to prison and some will die of an overdose of heroin.

I started my recovery in long term drug rehab so if these options did not work for you then you may want to consider going to long term drug rehab. I can pretty much tell you that this decision basically saved my life.

Good luck
