If are look for some information on xanax addiction you have come to the right place. I am going to share with you my experience strength and hope in the hopes that you too can learn how to overcome an addiction to xanax.

Alprazolam was first synthesized by Upjohn it is covered under a U.S. Patent    which was filed on October 29, 1969, granted on October 19, 1976 and expired in September 1993. Alprazolam was released for sale in 1981.The first approved use was for panic disorder. At the time I am reasonably sure that they were unaware of the high potential for xanax addiction.

Alprazolam, is probably better known as its brand name xanax, and these also off shoots of alprazolam-  Xanor, Alprax, and Niravam, is a short-acting drug of the benzodiazepine family used to treat moderate to severe anxiety disorders; for instance, panic attacks, and  anxiety that could be caused by depression.

It is also available in an extended-release and is called, Xanax XR, they can now be purchased in generic form. Xanax is a sedative as well as a hypnotic. Alprazolam may be habit-forming or in other words addicting. In long term use it may also cause physical dependence and if it is suddenly stop xanax withdrawal can occur.

Here’s the catch we know they can cause  addiction but we continue to take them because they allow us to escape. I used to use xanax along with heroin and fall out all the time. I OD like this more than once and woke up in the hospital. I would strongly advise that you do not mix xanax and heroin. Some times

I also used to get wasted by drinking alcohol and taking xanax and forget who I was with or what I did the night before this is quite common side effect of all benzodiazapine addiction. I have even lost my car on a couple of occasions. One time when this happend the girl I was with the night before told me where it was and the other time I had to call the police and say it was stolen.

It never seemed to fail that when this would happen it seemed like there was always some that I was with or seen me making a complete fool out of myself and it seemed like I did this on a regular basis when I was using this drug to me this medication is just as bad as heroin and easy to get.

How to get through xanax withdrawal

This addiction can be beat; for example, one could taper themselves off. This can be done by reducing your dosage by a pill or less each day and this should prevent any serious xanax withdrawal. I would advise talking with your prescribing physician about this they can for sure come up with a plan that will help you.

Now if you have been taking them for a long time do not just stop using xanax this can be very dangerous. What happens is your body is shocked when it no longer has the drug and can cause convulsions or even death.

If you have been taking them for a long time or suddenly run out I would seek medical help immediately by going to the ER. There they can help to detox you safely because coming of of benoz’s can be very dangerous and you could die from withdrawal. If you want to learn how to stop using xanax I would recommend going to a rehab that specializes in benzodiazepine withdrawal.

Being that you will not be in the hospital that long or if you just have had enough of letting drug addiction control your life then you may want to go to substance abuse treatment.

In substance abuse rehab you can be medically detoxed from xanax and avoid any dangerous xanax withdrawal symptoms. One this about this kind of substace abuse treament is that is safe and you will also be monitored by staff around the clock avery day of the week. They will give you your medication as need and check your vitals to make sure it is working.

When you finish you detox you will move over too residential treatment. Where you must attend 12 step meetings, lectures, groups, and drug addiction therapy. Hopefully you will learn some new techniques to help you to remain clean and sober when you leave substance abuse rehab.
